Do I need to register if I’m planning to run my own coat drive?
No registration is required. While we love hearing about people joining the initiative, there’s no official registration process. To get started, we recommend familiarising yourself with our 2023 Tools + Guidebook to learn how to initiate your coat drive within your community.

Does the Off Your Back Coat Drive run all year?
No, Off Your Back runs during the Australian winter (June 1st – August 31st.) If you have coats to donate outside of these months, consider reaching out to your local charity, church, or community organisation for drop-off arrangements.
Do you run the Off Your Back Coat Drive in any other states?
While we’re a small team of volunteers in Victoria and can’t facilitate drives in other states, we encourage you to run your own coat drive. Local community groups in other states would gladly accept coat donations. Reach out to your local church, community centre, opportunity shop, or charity for drop-off details.
I don’t have a coat to donate, but I’d like to make a monetary donation.
While your generosity is appreciated, Off Your Back operates without monetary donations. If you wish to support your community financially, consider reaching out to local organisations or contributing to Big Group Hug’s Coats4Kids 2023 drive.
How do I register to become a collection point?
If you can facilitate coat drop-offs, please reach out to info@offyourback.com.au to register as a 2023 collection point.
How do I organise for Capital Transport to collect my coat donations?
Capital Transport offers complimentary services to transport coats from registered collection points around Victoria. They don’t collect coats from individuals. For registration, reach out to info@offyourback.com.au.
Do you accept coats for babies, children, teenagers and adults?
Yes, we do. However if you have coats for babies, children, or teenagers, please also consider donating to Big Group Hug’s Coats4Kids drive. Discover drop-off points for Coats4Kids here.
Hi, I live in Torquay and have 3bags of coats to donate to the offyour back initiative. I’ve been twice to Geelong 26 Bellarine street address on the days and hours stated on your donation locations site, each time the door is locked. Most frustrating, even more so for the people in need looking for help. We be left a voicemail but haven’t heard back. Should I just donate them all to an op shop? I would rather see them going direct to the needy.
I have some coats that are in excellent condition to donate but will need to leave them somewhere in the next month before your campaign begins.
Is there any where that I can drop off the coats in March or before the 14th of April as I have sold my parent’s house and settlement is due in the middle of April.
Hi I think this cast drive is fantastic. I work in the Melbourne CBD and notice the individuals that would benefit from this activity. I also notice that many have pets who would also benefit from a warm coat. I am thinking of running a work coat drive that I would expect have a good response. Am I able to add the dog coats to the children and adults coats ( all clean and very usable )? Alot of homeless people have pets as supports and company.
